We love a one pot meal, and this Hamburger Helper made with ingredients at home and not from a box hits the spot. It’s creamy, meaty and gives you all the vibes of dinner in the 90s. Clean-up is a breeze and this makes enough for 2 days too!

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef

  • 1 onion, finely diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 5 cups beef broth

  • 2 cups crushed or strained tomatoes (I usually take my can of plum tomatoes and blend it up until smooth)

  • 1/2 tsp each dried oregano and basil

  • 1 tsp salt (to start, then adjust)

  • a few grinds of black pepper

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 lb pasta of choice, I like something like Mafalda Corta which look like tiny lasagna noodles

  • 1/2 cup cream + 1/2 cup milk

  • 3 cups shredded cheddar

Directions:

  1. In a big pot, add a splash of oil and brown your meat over medium-high heat.

  2. Add your onion and garlic and cook until fragrant, 1-2 minutes.

  3. Turn down heat to medium and sprinkle flour over meat mixture and cook for 1 minute until no flour streaks remain.

  4. Add broth, tomatoes and seasoning and bring to a boil.

  5. Once boiling, add your pasta and cook until al dente over a simmering medium heat. Stir occasionally until pasta is done and sauce is thickened.

  6. Turn heat down to medium-low, and add your cream and milk.

  7. Turn off heat and stir in cheese until melted. Serve immediately.
