Swap out your favorite ground meat in this recipe and with just a handful of spices and a couple cans of beans, you’ve got yourself a crowd-pleasing meal with leftovers (my favorite kind of mea!)!

Here’s how I made it!

Brown your meat, then add your spices and allow it to simmer for a few minutes. Add your onion and garlic and then your tomato paste. I blend my onions into my tomatoes because my kids dont want to see any onions (but they love the flavor of course!).

Finally add your broth, and strained tomatoes and bring to a boil.

After about 30 mins or so, taste for seasoning and serve with sour cream, hot sauce, corn bread and/or tortilla chips!

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef, turkey or whatever you like

  • 2 tbsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp granulated garlic

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1 bottle of passata, or 2 1/2 cups tomato sauce of choice

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 2 cans of beans (I use one can of kidney beans, and one can of black beans), rinsed well

Directions:

  1. Over medium heat, add a little oil and your ground meat of choice. Brown it well over medium heat then add in your seasonings.

  2. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes, then add in your onion, garlic and tomato paste. Cook for another 5 minutes or so.

  3. Add in your broth and tomatoes and bring up to a boil.

  4. Add in your beans, lower your heat to medium and cover. Cook for about 1/2 hour, stirring occasionally until thickened.

  5. Serve hot with tortilla chips, sour cream, cheese, cilantro and/or hot sauce. I love making a batch of corn bread if time allows.
